How To Be A Bit More Earth Friendly

Happy Earth Day Earthlings!

Since today is earth day, we decided to share with you some simple things you can do to be more earth friendly. Now I know what you are thinking. Being zero waste is not as intimidating as it sounds. It is a continuous learning process and it’s not a drastic lifestyle change. It’s all about being more mindful about everything– the things you use and the things you do.

To help you with your zero waste journey, we listed down some simple things you can do.

START USING REUSABLE JARS

The longer you can use something, the longer it stays out of the landfills. Things like reusable jars come in very handy. You can store many things in them, such as kitchen ingredients. It is also very easy to find them. They are available in your local hardware stores like ACE Hardware or True Value.

USE REUSABLE STRAWS

If we are being honest, straws are completely unnecessary however I understand that there are still loads of people who still like using them. With that being said, ditch the plastic and paper straws and use metal or wooden straws instead. They are more earth-friendly since you can keep reusing them. Stores like Last Straw MNL and Berde makes it so easy to have these straws.

USE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER BARS

We are so used to liquid shampoos and conditioners but like what I said earlier, being zero waste is a continuous learning process. There are loads of local companies that are now making shampoo and conditioner bars. They even have soap bars that don’t have excess packaging. Some brands that you can check out are Squeaky Clean KidsMayumi Organics

ALWAYS CARRY A TOTE BAG

Bringing a reusable tote bag or eco bag when you go to the grocery store or when you go shopping lets you skip the plastic bags and the paper bags they use. Getting in the habit of carrying tote bags with you will make you realise how much we don’t really need to use plastic bags. You can get these bags literally everywhere–from your local grocery stores to shops like Refuse, and Berde.
